Pictures at an Exhibition / Wandering through the Exhibition and yet: looking at contemporary art 1985-2025
Tel Aviv Museum of Art and Levontin 7 collaborate on a one-time event – visiting an exhibition with Live Music.
A unique musical composition, created especially for this exhibition, will transform the act of wandering through the gallery into a symphony.
Six sound artists will take visitors on a magical musical journey through the exhibition. Inspired by Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky, the musicians will craft a soundtrack connecting the artworks currently on display in the Eyal Ofer Pavilion.
The exhibition invites visitors on a journey between darkness and light. The twilight hour, the intermediary space in which the exhibition operates, is expressed in scenes that shift between dawn and dusk. In these transitional moments lies a promise of renewal, but also a challenge to reality and the nature of hope.
Pictures at an Exhibition, the famous piece by Modest Mussorgsky (1839–1881), was composed in response to an art exhibition he attended. Mussorgsky wrote a musical movement for each painting, tying them together into one of the most important works to forge an unbreakable bond between music and its sister, visual art.
The Tomorrow Collective draws inspiration from this iconic composition. This one-time event will follow the internal logic of the exhibition “and yet: looking at contemporary art 1985-2025”. Each musician will engage in a personal dialogue with a selected artwork, creating new connections and offering a fresh perspective on the pieces.
