Live Podcast in Conjunction with the Exhibition Noma Bar: Look Again (in English)
Curator Yuval Saar in Conversation with illustrator Noma Bar
A special live recording of the Portfolio Review podcast before a live audience, hosted by Yuval Saar, curator of the exhibition and founder and editor-in-chief of Portfolio magazine.
Every day, one of Noma Bar's illustrations is published somewhere in the world. Bar (b. 1973, Afula; lives and works in London) has collaborated with leading international magazines, cultural institutions, and global brands. His work has gained worldwide recognition for its distinctive visual language: minimalist, playful, shifting between positive and negative space, and characterized by bold, vibrant color.
The exhibition offers an in-depth look into Bar's creative world, presenting a body of work in which every image invites a second glance and reveals new layers of meaning.
In this live podcast conversation, we will discuss Bar's studies at Bezalel Academy, his move to London, the balance between commissions for some of the world's leading companies and his personal projects, the role of reduction and humor in his work, the transition of his graphic language into the museum space, the curatorial considerations behind the exhibition, and more.
